Chariton, Missouri
Charitonis anunincorporated communityin northeastPutnam County,in theU.S. stateofMissouri.[1]
The community is onMissouri Route DDtwo miles east ofMissouri Route 149.The Missouri-Iowaborder is one mile north of the community.Unionvilleis approximately 15 miles to the southwest.[2]
History
[edit]A post office called Chariton was established in 1883, and remained in operation until 1907.[3]The community takes its name from the nearbyChariton River.[4]
