Chaunceyis a city inDodge County,Georgia,United States. The population was 289 at the 2020 census. It was formed around station number twelve on theMacon and Brunswick Railroad.

History

TheGeorgia General Assemblyincorporated the "Town of Chauncey" in 1883.[4]The community was named after William Chauncey, a businessperson in the local lumber industry.[5]

Chauncey is located in southeastern Dodge County at32°6′18″N83°3′58″W/ 32.10500°N 83.06611°W/32.10500; -83.06611(32.104972, -83.065991).[6]U.S. Routes23and341pass concurrently through the center of town, leading northwest 9 miles (14 km) toEastman,thecounty seat,and east 10 miles (16 km) toMcRae.Sugar Creekruns along the southwest border of the city.

According to theUnited States Census Bureau,Chauncey has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.5 km2), all of it land.[7]
