Chaunceyis a city inDodge County,Georgia,United States. The population was 289 at the 2020 census. It was formed around station number twelve on theMacon and Brunswick Railroad.
History
[edit]TheGeorgia General Assemblyincorporated the "Town of Chauncey" in 1883.[4]The community was named after William Chauncey, a businessperson in the local lumber industry.[5]
Geography
[edit]Chauncey is located in southeastern Dodge County at32°6′18″N83°3′58″W/ 32.10500°N 83.06611°W(32.104972, -83.065991).[6]U.S. Routes23and341pass concurrently through the center of town, leading northwest 9 miles (14 km) toEastman,thecounty seat,and east 10 miles (16 km) toMcRae.Sugar Creekruns along the southwest border of the city.
According to theUnited States Census Bureau,Chauncey has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.5 km2), all of it land.[7]
