Chaurjahariis aMunicipalityinWestern Rukum DistrictinKarnali ProvinceofNepalthat was established in 2015 through the merging the two formerVillage development committeesBijayasworiandKotjahari.[2]It lies on the bank ofSani Bheri River.
Demographics
[edit]At the time of the2011 Nepal census,Chaurjahari Municipality had a population of 27,583. Of those, 99.0% spokeNepali,0.8%Magar,0.1%Hindi,0.1%Urduand 0.1% other languages as their first language.[3]
In terms of ethnicity/caste, 45.7% wereChhetri,15.0%Kami,14.2%Magar,10.0%Hill Brahmin,4.5%Thakuri,3.8%Sarki,2.6%Damai/Dholi, 2.5% Sanyasi/Dasnami, 1.0%Badi,0.2%Musalman,0.2%Newar,0.1%TeraiBrahmin,0.1%Gurung,0.1% other Terai and 0.1% others.[4]
In terms of religion, 97.5% wereHindu,1.8%Buddhist,0.5%Christianand 0.2%Muslim.[5]
In terms of literacy, 65.5% could read and write, 2.5% could only read and 31.9% could neither read nor write.[6]
