Chichibu Province
Chichibu Province(Tri 々 phu quốc,Chichibu no kuni)was anold provinceofJapanin the area that is today the western part ofSaitama Prefecture.
History
[edit]According to text in theSendai Kuji Hongi(Kujiki), there was an area called Chichibu Province during the reign ofEmperor Sujin.[1]Since ancient times,Chichibu-jinjahas been the mainShinto shrinein the area.[2]
In theEdo period,a pilgrimage route linked together 34 sacred sites of the old Chichibu Province.[3]
