Chichibu Province(Tri 々 phu quốc,Chichibu no kuni)was anold provinceofJapanin the area that is today the western part ofSaitama Prefecture.

History

According to text in theSendai Kuji Hongi(Kujiki), there was an area called Chichibu Province during the reign ofEmperor Sujin.[1]Since ancient times,Chichibu-jinjahas been the mainShinto shrinein the area.[2]

In theEdo period,a pilgrimage route linked together 34 sacred sites of the old Chichibu Province.[3]
