Chris Daukaus(/ˈdɔːkəs/DAW-kəs;born September 25, 1989) is an Americanmixed martial artistwho competes in theHeavyweightdivision ofCage Fury Fighting Championships.He previously competed for theUltimate Fighting Championship(UFC). He is the older brother of former UFC fighterKyle Daukaus.

Background

Daukaus was raised inNortheast Phillyin theTaconyneighborhood. In 2007, Chris graduated fromNortheast Catholic High School,and became a resident ofParkwood, Philadelphia.[3]After graduating, he attendedPennsylvania State Universitybefore dropping out.[4]He started training in mixed martial arts a year prior to enrolling into the police academy in order to fill the void of sports and competition after high school, and to follow in the footsteps of his father who was also a police officer.[4]

Early career

A professional since October 2013 and representing Martinez BJJ, Daukaus compiled an 8–3 record in 11 career bouts as a professional, winning by seven knockouts and one decision. Daukaus has competed with CES MMA, Cage Fury Fighting Championships, and Ring Of Combat. He has finished seven of his eight professional victories. In his MMA debut at XFE Cage Wars 27, he defeated Robert Duvalle via TKO in the first round. Daukaus also defeated Jeffrey Blachly via TKO in round two in his debut appearance with Cage Fury Fighting Championships at CFFC 50. He defeated Blachly a second time via a unanimous decision at CFFC 62. Then at KOTC Regulator, Daukaus defeated Anthony Coleman via TKO in the first round. He also defeated Plinio Cruz via TKO in round one at CFFC 69. For his lone outing with CES MMA at CES MMA 52 Daukaus defeated Joshua Marsh via TKO in the second round.

At Ring Of Combat 65, he faced Edwin Smart and defeated him via technical knockout in round one to earn the sixth knockout victory of his professional career.[5]

Daukaus suffered a loss to Zu Anyanwu in a bout for theCage Fury FC Heavyweight Championshipat CFFC 73 on March 2, 2019. Daukaus was clearly winning that fight before a big shot changed the complexion of it quickly and Daukaus was knocked out.[6]

He then faced Danny Holmes at CFFC 77 on August 16, 2019. He won the fight via first-round technical knockout.[7]

Daukaus was then scheduled to face Shawn Teed for theCage Fury FC Heavyweight Championshipin a rematch at CFFC 82 on March 21, 2020.[8]However, the whole event was postponed due to theCOVID-19pandemic.[9]The event and the championship bout was rescheduled to take place at August 12, 2020. However, Daukaus signed with the UFC in early August and was replaced by Carl Seumanutafa.[10]

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Daukaus made his UFC debut on nine days notice againstParker Porteron August 15, 2020, atUFC 252.He won the fight via TKO in the first round after a series of punches and a knee dropped Porter.[11]

Daukaus facedRodrigo Nascimentoon October 11, 2020, atUFC Fight Night: Moraes vs. Sandhagen.He won the fight via knockout in round one.[12]This win earned him thePerformance of the Nightaward.[13]

Daukaus facedAleksei Oleinikon February 20, 2021, atUFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Lewis.[14]He won the fight via TKO in round one.[15]This win earned him thePerformance of the Nightaward.[16]

Daukaus was scheduled to faceShamil AbdurakhimovatUFC on ESPN: Sandhagen vs. Dillashaw,but the matchup would be postponed due toCOVID-19protocols within Abdurakhimov's camp.[17]The bout was rescheduled to take place atUFC on ESPN: Hall vs. Stricklandon July 31, 2021.[17]However, the bout was postponed for unknown reasons[18]toUFC 266.[19]Daukaus won the fight via technical knockout in round two.[20]This win earned him thePerformance of the Nightaward.[21]

Daukaus facedDerrick Lewison December 18, 2021, atUFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus.[22]He lost the fight via knockout in the first round.[23]

Daukaus facedCurtis Blaydeson March 26, 2022, atUFC on ESPN 33.[24]He lost the fight via TKO early in the second round.[25]

Daukaus was scheduled to faceJairzinho Rozenstruikon October 1, 2022, atUFC Fight Night 211.[26]However, for unknown reasons, the bout was moved toUFC 282on December 10, 2022.[27]Daukaus lost the fight via technical knockout.[28]

Daukaus was scheduled to faceKhalil Rountree Jr.on June 10, 2023 atUFC 289.[29]However on June 2, 2023, it was revealed that Daukaus suffered injury and was pulled from the card.[30]The bout with Rountree was rescheduled for August 12, 2023 atUFC on ESPN: Luque vs. dos Anjos.[31]Daukaus lost the fight via technical knockout in round one.[32]

After the loss, it was announced that Daukaus was no longer on the UFC roster.[33]

Post-UFC

Daukaus facedTafon Nchukwion August 16, 2024 atCFFC134.[34]He lost the fight by unanimous decision in the first decision loss in his career.[35]

Professional grappling career

Daukaus competed againstAlexandr Romanovat Fury Pro Grappling 8 on December 30, 2023.[36]He lost the match by decision.[37]

Personal life

Daukaus had been aPhiladelphia Police Departmentofficer since 2010.[38]However, on December 1, 2021, in the lead up to his fight withDerrick Lewis,Daukaus decided to quit his position in the police force in order to fully concentrate on his MMA career.[39]

He and his wife Kelly have a son.[40]
