Chris Reifert(born February 23, 1968)is an Americandeath metalmusician and a pioneer of thedeath-doomfusion genre. Although his music is moredeath metalthandoom metal,he is one of the first musicians known to have combined the two styles. He played drums on theDeathdebut album,Scream Bloody Gore.After parting ways withChuck Schuldinerin 1987, Reifert elected to remain in theSan Francisco Bay Area,formingAutopsyin 1987. In his own band, he played not only drums but performed thevocalsas well. After several albums, Autopsy split up in 1995 and Reifert and bandmateDanny Corallesbegan playing in their side-project,Abscessfull-time. Autopsy reformed after Abscess' dissolution in 2010.

Chris Reifert is also known for his many side-projects, includingthe Ravenous,Doomed,Eat My Fuk,andViolation Wound.He has also performed guest vocals onMachetazo'sSinfonias del Terror Ciegoand the Autopsy-inspiredMurder Squad'sRavenous, Murderous,with further guest appearances forImmortal Fate,Nuclear Death,and "Cathedral of the Damned" onCathedral's final album,The Last Spire.He is also known for his album cover art. His interviews are noted for his sharp wit and off-the-wall humor.
