Her father is named Clifton Wales Fichtner.[2]She attendedGreenwich High School[3]inConnecticutwhere she was the girlfriend of futurePro Football Hall of FamerSteve Young.[4]She moved toDallas,enrolling atSouthern Methodist University.[1]

As abeauty queen,she was crownedMiss Texas USAandMiss USA 1986,becoming the second of five consecutive winners fromTexasduring the 1980s. Her main competition and eventual first runner-up atMiss USAwas actressHalle Berry.[5]

At the 1986Miss Universepageant held in July 1986 in Panama City, Panama, Fichtner placed first in thepreliminarycompetition,thirdin semifinal interview,firstinswimsuitandsecondinevening gown,which allowed her to advance as one of the Top 5 finalists of the competition, finishing her participation inMiss Universe 1986as first runner-up to eventual winner,Bárbara Palacios TeydeofVenezuela.[6]

In 2003, she starred in the reality television showWho Wants to Marry My Dad?,[7]where she was the runner-up.[8]

AfterHurricane WilmadamagedCancúnand its infrastructure in 2005, Fichtner, a frequent traveler to the area,[9]revisited the tourist location in an effort to promote tourism: "The Cancún we love needs to be visited byTexansin order to return to what it once was. "[10]

Personal life

A longtimeDallasite,[10]Fichtner married Dallas dentist Gary E. Alhadef in October 1988,[11]with whom she has 3 sons:[12]Blake Clifton, Steven Walker and Corbin Reed.[2]They later divorced.[13]
