Chydorusis a genus ofChydoridae.[2]

The genus was described in 1816 byWilliam Elford Leach.[2]

It hascosmopolitan distribution.[1]

It was found that centers of dispersion of twoChydorusgroups were located in the European part of the continent and two others inAsia.One clade survived during harsh conditions of thePleistoceneglaciation in a northern refugium, while another clade survived in the south.[3]
