TheAfrican wading ratorAfrican water rat(Colomys goslingi) is aspeciesofrodentin the familyMuridae.It is native to Africa, where it occurs inAngola,Burundi,Cameroon,Republic of the Congo,Democratic Republic of the Congo,Equatorial Guinea,Ethiopia,Gabon,Kenya,Liberia,Rwanda,South Sudan,Uganda,andZambia.[1]

An aquatic species, this rat is found in and around streams and pools in rainforest habitat, and sometimes ingrasslandand savanna regions.[1]

In 2020, a team of researchers fromSiena Collegeestablished that it is actually four separate species: the other three species have been namedColomys wologizi,C. lumumbai,andC. eisentrauti.[2][3][4]
