Coryton railway stationservesCorytonand Pantmawr inCardiff,Wales. It is theterminusof theCoryton Line5 miles (8.0 km) north ofCardiff CentralviaCardiff Queen Street.

Passenger services are provided byTransport for Walesas part of theValley Linesnetwork.

History[edit]

The station was opened by theCardiff Railwayon 1 March 1911 asCoryton Halt;it was renamedCoryton Halt (Glam)by theGreat Western Railwayin 1926,[1]and relocated in 1931. The line beyond here closed to all traffic in 1952. It was proposed for closure in theBeeching Reportof 1963, but survived. The station was renamedCorytonon 5 May 1969.[1]

Facilities[edit]

There is one platform with a single bus-stop style shelter andbenches.The station has two entrances, one wheelchair accessible from Park Crescent and one down a flight of steps from theA4054road bridge over the track.

Services[edit]

Monday to Saturdays there is a half-hourly service along theCity LinetoRadyr,calling atWhitchurch,Rhiwbina,Birchgrove,Ty Glas,Heath Low Level,Cardiff Queen Street,Cardiff Central,Ninian Park,Waun-Gron Park,Fairwater,DanescourtandRadyr.Evenings there is an hourly service and there is no Sunday service.[2]

Journey time toQueen Streetis 15 minutes,Central19 minutes andRadyr39 minutes. Connections can be made atQueen Streetfor other Valley Lines services and atCentralfor main-line destinations across the country.

Services are mainly operated byClass 150Sprinterunits. Saturdays often see single-carriageClass 153Super Sprinterunits, as services are less busy and two-car units can be freed for busier services.
