Acouncil of stateis a governmental body in a country, or a subdivision of a country, with a function that varies by jurisdiction.[1]It may be the formal name for thecabinetor it may refer to a non-executive advisory body associated with ahead of state.[2]In some countries it functions as asupreme administrative court[3]and is sometimes regarded as the equivalent of aprivy council.[4][5]
