Cowbridge Road West(Welsh:Heol y Bontfaen Gorllewin) is a major road in westernCardiff,the capital ofWalesand forms part of theA48 road.

It divides the districts ofElyandCaerauand connects inner Cardiff toCulverhouse Crossand eventually theM4 motorwayvia theA4232.
It also connects Cardiff ultimately to towns and villages such asBarry,Wenvoe,CowbridgeandPeterston-Super-Elywhich can be accessed via theA48fromCulverhouse Cross.
Ely Hospitalwas a large psychiatric hospital that closed in 1996 and has since been demolished. It was near to the fire station on Cowbridge Road West.
