Craig Bowenis a former professionalrugby leaguefootballer who played as afive-eighthin the 1990s and 2000s. He played at representative level for theCook Islands,and at club level for theWests Panthers(two spells), theIllawarra Steelers(Reserve grade),South Queensland Crushers,Gold Coast Chargersand theAdelaide Rams.

Playing career

Bowen began his career with theWests Panthersin theBrisbane Rugby Leaguecompetition, playing alongsideBarry Berrigan.[2]

Bowen signed with theIllawarra Steelersin 1995 but did not play a first grade match.[3]

In 1996 he made his first grade debut in theAustralian Rugby Leaguecompetition, playing for theSouth Queensland Crushers.He spent 1997 with theGold Coast Chargersbefore playing for theAdelaide Ramsin 1997. Overall, he played in nine first grade matches, scoring two tries.

He then returned to the Wests Panthers, playing in theQueensland Cup.[4]

Representative career

Bowen first represented theCook Islandsin the1995 Emerging Nations Tournament,which was won by the Cook Island team.[3][5]

Bowen again represented theCook Islandsat the2000 Rugby League World Cup,playing against Wales, New Zealand, and Lebanon.[1][6]
