Creonion
Creonion(Ancient Greek:Κρεώνιον) was an ancient town in the southernIllyrianregion ofDassaretia,mentioned byPolybiusin the 2nd century BC in the accounts of theIllyrian WarsandMacedonian Wars.[1][2][3]The location of the ancient town is still unknown.[2]It was probably situated nearLake Lychnidus(Ohrid).[4]
Along withAntipatrea,ChrysondyonandGertous,Creonion was one of the Dassaretan towns around which theIllyriandynastSkerdilaidasand theMacedoniankingPhilip Vfought in 217 BC. Creonion was a settlement of unspecified size.[3]
