Croatian question

TheCroatian question(Croatian:Hrvatsko pitanje) refers to a political, cultural, social and economical status ofCroatsinAustria-Hungary,Kingdom of Yugoslavia,SFR Yugoslaviaand post-DaytonBosnia and Herzegovina.

The first steps towards Croathome rulewere made in 1939 with theCvetković–Maček Agreement,creating theautonomousBanovina of Croatia.This province, mostly coterminous with the formerSavaandLittoral Banovinaswith the exception of a few other Croat-majority regions, lasted untilinvasion of Yugoslaviaduring theWorld War II,with theIndependent State of Croatiabeing established as aNazi Germanpuppet state10 April 1941.

In post-WWII Yugoslavia, the Croatiannational questionwas mostly resolved on 25 June 1991 with theindependenceof theRepublic of Croatia,from the territory of the constituentSR Croatia.
