Cry Foreveris the second studio album by Australian alternative pop singer-songwriterAmy Shark,released on 30 April 2021 throughWonderlick EntertainmentandSony Music Australia.

Cry Foreverachieved minor commercial success, debuting and peaking at number 1 on theARIA Albums Chart,number 15 on theNew Zealand Albums Chart,and number 67 on theSwiss Albums Chart.

At the2021 ARIA Music Awards,the album was nominated forAlbum of the Year,Best ArtistandBest Pop Release.[1]

At the2022 Queensland Music Awards,the release won Highest Selling Album of the Year.[2]

Background and release

Cry Foreverwas announced on 4 December 2020, alongside the album's third single, "All the Lies About Me".[3]Upon the album's announcement, Shark said "I am so proud of this album and it's time to hand these songs over to the fans. These are some of the most personal and confronting songs I've ever written and I can't wait to share them with everyone."[3][4][5]

Promotion

In February 2021, Shark announced the forthcoming release of a docu-series titledForever, Amy Shark,which documents the recording process of the albumCry Forever.[6]

The album was supported by an Australian tour throughout June and July 2021.[6]

Singles

"Everybody Rise"was released on 18 June 2020 as the album's lead single. The song peaked at number 31 on theARIA Singles Chartand won theARIA Award for Best Pop Releaseat the2020 ARIA Music Awards.[7]

"C'mon",featuring Blink-182 drummerTravis Barker,was released on 23 October 2020 as the album's second single. It debuted and peaked at number 56 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

"All the Lies About Me" was released on 4 December 2020 as the album's third single.[8]Shark said of the song: "This song is me at my most confused, broken and lonely. It's not easy hearing things about yourself that simply aren't true. Sometimes the noise gets too loud so I had to write this song as it's the only way I can talk."[4]

"Love Songs Ain't for Us",featuring Australian country musicianKeith Urban,was released on 19 February 2021 as the album's fourth single. The song was co-written with English singerEd Sheeran.[9]

"Baby Steps" was released on 19 March 2021 as the album's fifth single.[10][11][12]

"Amy Shark" was released on 16 April 2021 as the album's sixth single.[13]Shark said of the song: "This song is my story. In a way this album closes so many chapters for me."[14]

"Worst Day of My Life" was sent to radio on 18 June 2021 as the album's seventh single. The music video, directed by James Chappell premiered the same day.[15][16]
