Cuyosuchusis anextinctgenusofarchosauriformreptile. Itsfossilshave been found inLate Triassic-aged rocks of theCacheuta Formation,Cuyo Basin,Mendoza,Argentina.Cuyosuchusisbased onMCNAM 2669,a partialpostcranialskeleton including 26vertebraefrom all parts of the spinal column, ribs, partialpectoral girdles,part of thepelvis,upper armsand part of the lower arms, the leftthigh boneandshin,pittedarmor scutes,and fragments. It was described in 1961 byOsvaldo Reigand named after theCuyo Basin;thetype speciesisC. huenei,referring to German paleontologistFriedrich von Huene.Although originally described as aproterosuchid,restudy by Julia Desojo and colleagues in 2003 found that it could not be assigned to any family.[1]
