D36is a state road in centralCroatiaconnectingKupaRiver area and the city ofSisakto Croatian motorway network at theA3 motorwayPopovačainterchange and to theD1 state roadinKarlovacin immediate vicinity of theA1 motorwayKarlovac interchange.[1][maps 1]The road is 107.8 km (67.0 mi) long.[2]
Like all state roads in Croatia, the D36 is managed and maintained byHrvatske ceste,state owned company.[3]
Relocation of the route
[edit]The D36 state road is planned to be rerouted so that it would connect Donja Zenčina interchange on theA1 motorwayand the existing route serviced by the D36. The existing road is planned to be diverted betweenGradec PokupskiandLijevo Sredičkoto the west, while the road to the east from that section would remain unchanged. This is a project of theZagreb Countyand it is predicated on a predicted two-fold increase of traffic on Ž3106 after the construction of the Donja Zdenčina interchange, to between 3,000 and 7,000 vehicles per day.[4]
Traffic volume
[edit]Traffic is regularly counted and reported byHrvatske ceste,operator of the road.[5]Section of the road running throughSisakis not covered by the trafficcounting sites, but the section is assumed to carry a substantial volume of urban traffic in addition to the regular D36 traffic.
