The road serves as a connecting road to theA1 motorwayforMakarska,Tučepi,PodgoraandDrvenik.The road is 30.6 km (19.0 mi) long.[2]

Like all other state roads in Croatia, the D512 is also managed and maintained byHrvatske ceste,a state-owned company.[3]

Traffic is regularly counted and reported byHrvatske ceste,the operator of the road.[4]Substantial variations between annual (AADT) and summer (ASDT) traffic volumes are attributed to the fact that the road serves as a connection to theA1 motorwayand theD8 state roadcarrying substantial tourist traffic.
