David Shafer Sprague[1](August 11, 1910 – February 20, 1968) was a starfootballplayer in theCanadian Football League(CFL) for eleven seasons for theHamilton Tigersand theOttawa Rough Riders.He was inducted into theCanadian Football Hall of Famein 1963 and into theCanada's Sports Hall of Famein 1975.
Sprague representedElmdale Wardfor one year onOttawa City Councilin 1940.[2]In the1940 electionhe ran for a seat on theOttawa Board of Control,but lost.
