David Gilmore(born 5 February 1964) is an Americanjazzguitarist.[1]

Gilmore studied at New York University withJoe LovanoandJim McNeely.In 1987, he began working professionally with theM-BaseCollective andRonald Shannon Jackson.In the 1990s, he was a member of thejazz fusionband Lost Tribe.[2]In 1995, he became a member ofWayne Shorter's band. With his brother Marque Gilmore,Matt Garrison,andAref Durvesh,he recordedRitualismin 2001. WithChristian McBride,Jeff "Tain" Watts,andRavi Coltranehe recordedUnified Presence.Gilmore was the sole composer on all but one song and also served as theproducerof the album.[3]
