David Grubin(born 1944) is an Americandocumentaryfilmmaker.

Career

Grubin is best known for producing television documentaries forPBS,[1]notablyAmerican ExperienceandHealing And The Mind withBill Moyers.His work has won two Alfred I. Dupont awards, two Peabody Awards, fiveWriter's Guildprizes, and fourPrimetime Emmys.

A member of the executive committee of theSociety of American Historians,Grubin has received aGuggenheim Fellowship,has been a Montgomery Fellow atDartmouth College,and is the recipient of an honorary doctorate from his alma mater,Hamilton College.He is a member of the Writers Guild andDirectors Guild,and is a former chairman of the board of directors of TheFilm Forum.

His independent feature film,Downtown Express,was selected for theWoodstock Film Festival,FilmColumbia Festival, and opening night at the Cinema Arts Festival Houston.

He teaches documentary filmmaking atColumbia University's Graduate Film Program.
