- Retrospectively, day zero for dates inMicrosoft Excel(similar toJanuary 1, 1970being day zero forUnix time). This is to ensure backwards compatibility withLotus 1-2-3,which had a bug misinterpreting 1900 as a leap year.[6][7][8]
