Denis Laskey

Sir Denis Seward LaskeyKCMGCVO(18 January 1916 – 16 October 1987) was British ambassador to Romania and Austria.

Career

Denis Seward Laskey was educated atMarlborough CollegeandCorpus Christi College, Oxford.He joined theForeign Officein 1939,[1]served briefly in theBritish Army1940–41, then returned to the Foreign Office until the end of thewar,when he was posted toBerlinand later to the UK delegation to theUnited NationsinNew York.He wasPrincipal Private Secretaryto theForeign Secretary(Selwyn Lloyd) 1956–59,Minister(second to theAmbassador) atRome1960–64,Permanent Under-Secretaryat theCabinet Office1964–67, Minister atBonn1967–68, Ambassador toRomania1969–71[2]and Ambassador toAustria1972–75.[3]

Laskey was appointedCMGin the1957 New Year Honours,[4]CVO in the1958 Birthday Honours[5]and knighted KCMG in the1974 New Year Honours.[6]
