Desmethylcitalopramis anactive metaboliteof theantidepressantdrugscitalopram(racemic) andescitalopram(theS-enantiomer,which would be calleddesmethylescitalopram).[1][2]Like citalopram and escitalopram, desmethylcitalopram functions as aselective serotonin reuptake inhibitor(SSRI), and is responsible for some of its parents'therapeutic benefits.
