Donald Teague(1897 - December 13, 1991) was an American magazine illustrator and watercolorist. He illustrated many magazines, and he painted in the art colony ofCarmel-by-the-Sea.
Life
[edit]Teague was born in 1897 inBrooklyn,New York.[1][2]He was trained at theArt Students League of New York.[1][2]
Teague was a magazine illustrator throughout the 1920s and 1930s,[3]initially for theSaturday Evening Postin New York City, and forCollier'sin California by 1938.[1]Teague was also an illustrator forMcCall'sandWoman's Home Companion.[3]
Teague subsequently joined the art colony inCarmel-by-the-Sea,where he painted for four decades.[3]By the time of his death, he had become known as "the dean of American watercolorists" according toThe Los Angeles Times.[3]
With his wife Verna, Teague had two daughters.[3]He died on December 13, 1991, in Carmel-by-the-Sea, at age 94.[2]
