East Lampung Regencyis aregency(kabupaten) ofLampungProvince,Sumatra,Indonesia.It has an area of 5,325.03 km2and a population of 951,639 people at the 2010 census[2]and 1,110,340 at the 2020 census.[3]The official estimate as at mid 2023 was 1,114,016 - comprising 566,648 males and 547,368 females.[1]Theregency seatis at the town ofSukadana.
It contains theWay Kambas National ParkandSatwa Elephant Eco Lodge.[4]
History
[edit]In 1989, the Islamist civilians in Talangsari village of East Lampung Regency were massacred byIndonesian Armytroops, in an event known asTalangsari incident.
In January 2010 an outbreak ofbird fluoccurred in East Lampung Regency.[5]
Administrative districts
[edit]East Lampung Regency is divided into twenty-four administrativedistricts(kecamatan), tabulated below with their areas and their populations at the 2010 census[2]and the 2020 census,[3]together with the official estimates as at mid 2023.[1]They are grouped for convenience into three geographical zones which have no administrative significance. The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number ofadministrative villages(all classed as ruraldesa) in each district and its post code.
