Calle plays the saxophones, flutes, clarinets, EWI, and keyboards, engineers projects, and performs vocals. He alsocomposesandarrangesmusic. Calle has served as Chairperson of Arts & Philosophy atMiami Dade CollegeNorth Campus and is currently Tenured Full Professor of Music Business and Production atMiami Dade College.

During his career he was three times nominated forLatin Grammy Award.First in 2005 forEd Calle Plays Santana,in 2007 forIn the Zone,and in 2014 for "Palo! Live". Calle was nominated for aGrammy Awardin 2015 for "Palo! Live".[1]

In January 2017, Calle posted onTwittercalling to impeachPresident Barack Obamaand referring to him as "The Kenyan."[2]Aligning himself with theBirther Movement,Calle later said in a statement titled "Response to Twitter Mob" he later issued on his personal site, "that America impeach someone whose posted birth certificate has been carefully analyzed and determined a forgery by at least two independent experts...”[3]
