Edward R. "Ed" Lukowich[2](born March 1, 1946; nicknamed "Cool Hand Luke"[3]) is a former Canadian championcurler.Lukowich is a two-timeBrierchampion, having won the Brier Tankard for Alberta as skip of both the 1978 and 1986 Canadian championship teams.[4]His team won the1986 World Curling Championshipand placed third at1988 Olympicswhen curling was a demonstration sport.
Career

[edit]Born on March 1, 1946, inSpeers, Saskatchewan,Lukowich was the athlete development director from 2000 to 2009 of theUnited States Curling Association.He coached thePete Fensonrink at the2010 World ChampionshipatCortina d'Ampezzoto a 4th-place finish.
Lukowich has written four books on curling and produced a 60-minute instructional video. He was one of the initial founders of theTSN Skins Gameand a co-founder of and former executive director of theWorld Curling Tour.He also was the WCT colour-commentator forCTV Sportsnet.[5]
Writing
[edit]Lukowich changed careers in 2011,[6] becoming a science fiction writer[7]as well as the author of 5 books (in his Trillion Theory series) relating to new theory pertaining to the age and origin of our universe.

Personal life
[edit]A resident ofCalgary,Ed is the older brother of former NHLhockeyplayer,Morris Lukowich.His cousin is NHL playerBrad Lukowichwho is the son of former NHL and WHA player Bernie Lukowich.
