Edward Ames Hearne(March 1, 1887 – February 9, 1955) was an Americanracing driverfromKansas City, Kansaswho was active in the formative years of auto racing.

Early life[edit]

Hearne was born on March 1, 1887.

Racing career[edit]

Hearne participated in theinaugural Indianapolis 500.He later was a long-timeDuesenbergfactory-backed driver. Hearne made 106 AAAChampionship Carstarts and continued driving until 1927, winning 11 Champ Car races and the1923 National Championship.

Death[edit]

Hearne died on February 9, 1955. He was buried inGreenwood CemeteryinBolivar, Missouri.
