Burdekinis an electoral district in theLegislative Assembly of Queenslandin the state ofQueensland,Australia. Centred on theAyr–Home Hillregion, the electorate also includes some ofTownsville's southern semi-rural localities as well as the coal-mining towns ofCollinsville,MoranbahandClermont.TheBurdekin Riverflows through part of the electorate.[1]
History[edit]
The 1949 redistribution abolished theelectoral district of Bowen.Part of Bowen was combined with part ofMundingburra(which continued as an electorate, but more centred on Townsville) to create the new electoral district of Burdekin, centred on Ayr and Home Hill.[1]
