Toowoomba Southis anelectoral districtof theLegislative Assemblyin the Australian state ofQueensland.It was created with the 1972 redistribution, and replaced the abolishedToowoomba East.[1]
The electorate covers the eastern and inner southern suburbs ofToowoomba.It excludes the outer southern suburbs of Toowoomba,Drayton,Darling Heightsand the other areas near theUniversity of Southern Queensland,which fall inCondamine.
It is part of the Darling Downs group of seats, and is bounded on the east byLockyer,the north byToowoomba North,and on the south and west byCondamine.
The electorate was held byJohn McVeighfor theLiberal National Party,until his resignation on 29 April 2016 to contest the federal seat ofGroomat the2016 federal election.David Janetzkiwas elected at the subsequentby-electionon 16 July 2016.[2]
