Ellipanthusis a genus ofplantsin the familyConnaraceae.The generic name is from theGreekmeaning "defective flower", referring to the incomplete development of some of thestamens.[2]

Description

Ellipanthusspecies grow as shrubs or small trees. The twigs aretomentose,especially when young.Inflorescencesconsist of four or five flowers. The fruits are densely tomentose with a woodypericarp.[2]

Distribution and habitat

Ellipanthusspecies grow naturally inAfrica,Madagascar,Sri Lanka,mainlandSoutheast AsiaandMalesia.Their habitat is lowland mixeddipterocarpforest and mixed swamp forest.[2]
