Emmabuntüsis aLinux distributionderived fromDebian(previouslyUbuntu) and designed to facilitate the restoration ofcomputersdonated to humanitarian organizations[6]like theEmmaüsCommunities.[7][8][9][10][11]

The nameEmmabuntüsis aportmanteauofEmmaüsandUbuntu.

Features

  • ThisLinux distributioncan beinstalled,in its entirety, without anInternetconnection as all of the required packages are included within thedisk image.The disk image includes packages for multiple languages and also optional non-freecodecsthat the user can choose whether to install or not.[12]
  • Emmabuntüs says one gigabyte ofRAMis required for the distribution's supported releases.[13]
  • An installationscriptautomatically performs some installation steps (user name, password predefined). The script allows the client user to choose whether or not to installnon-free softwareand whether or not to uninstall unused languages to savedisk space.[14]
  • Emmabuntüs includes browserplug-insfordata privacy.[15]
  • There are threedocktypes to choose from to simplify access to thesoftwareand are defined by the type of user (children, beginners and "all" ).[16]
