Eri Fukatsu(Thâm tân hội lí,Fukatsu Eri,born 11 January 1973)[1]is a Japaneseactress.She won the award for best actress at the 18thYokohama Film FestivalforHaru[2]and the best actress award at the 2010Montreal World Film Festivalfor her performance inVillain.[3]She also received acclaim for her role in the Japanese TV seriesBayside Shakedownand the subsequent spin-off films of the series. In 1988, she starred in "Christmas Express" commercials for theCentral Japan Railway Company.
Career[edit]
In her early years in Japan's entertainment business, Eri Fukatsu worked as a singer under the names Rie Mizuhara and Rie Takahara, but later decided to use her real name. In 1988 she made her screen debut in the film adaptation ofTōma no Shinzō,entitledSummer Vacation 1999.Among her television credits, Eri Fukatsu also provides narration for the long-running "World Heritage Sites" program on Japanese television.[4]
In 1997, Fukatsu took the role of Sumire Onda in theBayside Shakedowntelevision series.[5]She co-starred withSatoshi TsumabukiinLee Sang-il's 2010 filmVillain,[6]for which she won the Best Actress award at the 34thMontreal World Film Festival.[7]In 2011, she starred inKōki Mitani'sA Ghost of a Chance.[8]
