Eric Erskine Austin[1](bornc. 1969) is aUnited States Marine Corpslieutenant generalwho has served as the deputy commandant for combat development and integration and commanding general of theMarine Corps Combat Development Commandsince August 9, 2024.[2]He most recently served as thecommanding general of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wingfrom 2022 to 2024. He previously served as the director of the Capabilities Development Directorate in the Office of the Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration.[3][4]
Austin graduated from theUnited States Naval Academyin 1991 with a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering. He completed flight training in 1994. Austin later graduated from theNational War Collegein 2010 with a master's degree in national security strategy.[4]
In March 2024, Austin was nominated for promotion to lieutenant general and appointment as deputy commandant for combat development and integration.[5][6]
