Eunymphicusis a genus ofparrotsin the familyPsittaculidae.The genus isendemictoNew Caledoniaand theLoyalty Islands,and is closely related to theCyanoramphusparakeets ofOceania.

Taxonomy

The genusEunymphicuswas introduced in 1937 by the American ornithologistJames L. Peterswith thehorned parakeetas thetype species.[1]The name combines theAncient Greekeumeaning "true" and the genus nameNymphicusthat had been introduce in 1832 byJohann Georg Waglerfor thecockatiel.[2]

The genus now contains two species:[3]
