The club is recognized inArequipaas one of the five "big" teams together withFBC Piérola,Sportivo Huracán,FBC MelgarandFBC Aurora,despite they being the only one of these that has failed to participate in the First Division.

The women's football department of the club won the Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol Femenino in 2009, after beating Estudiantes Universitarios de Cusco 3–2 in the final,[1]and thus qualifying to compete inthat year'sCopa Libertadores.[2]
