Fussballclub Baden 1897,simply known asFC Baden,is a Swissfootballclub based inBaden,Canton Aargau,which is a short distance fromZürich.It was founded in 1897. FC Baden has a total of 22 different teams at age levels, including five women's teams. They currently play in theSwiss Promotion League,the third tier of Swiss football.

In the1985–86 season,the club participated in theSwiss Super Leaguebut wererelegatedafter finishing last, coming 16th out of 16. After that time the club was in theSwiss Challenge Leaguewhere they stayed until relegation in the 2005–06 season. Since that time the club have been in the third tier of the Swissfootball pyramid.They narrowly lost out on promotion back to the Challenge League at the end of the 2007–08 season. Over the past few years,[when?]due to financial problems, the club have had to rely on young players, as well asloansfrom localSuper LeaguesideFC Aarau,with whom they have a very good relationship.[citation needed]

On 26 May 2023, FC Baden secure promotion to Challenge League from 2023–24 after finishing 3rd place in 2022–23 Promotion League due to obtaining licence of Swiss Football League. Following season, FC Baden return to Promotion League from 2024–25 after relegation from Challenge League due to defeat fromFC Thun1–5 on 4 May 2024 and finished last position.

Stadium[edit]

FC Baden play their home games at theEsp StadiuminFislisbachwhich is a few miles outside of Baden. The capacity of the stadium is 7,000, of which 1,000 is seating and the rest isterracing.
