Modern Persian nameFarhād(فرهاد) is derived fromMiddle PersianFrahād(inParthian:𐭐𐭓𐭇𐭕prhtFrahāt;inAncient Greek:ΦραάτηςPhraatēs), ultimately fromOld Iranian*fra-hāta- "merited, obtained".[1][2]
