Fashion Rocks

Fashion Rocksis an annual international charityfundraiserevent, which features fashions by the world's top designers presented as live performances by popular music acts.

Fashion Rocks Worldwide is the owner of the intellectual property rights to the Fashion Rocks brand[1]and grants licenses for these live events globally.[2]Fashion Rocks Worldwide also operates a content and cross-border marketplace at www.fashionrocks.com.

2003 to 2006[edit]

The inaugural Fashion Rocks event was held at theRoyal Albert Hallon October 15, 2003. Seventeen designers presented that night, includingDonatella VersaceandAlexander McQueen,withBjörk,Jane's Addiction,Beyoncé,Robbie Williams,Grace Jones,Milla Jovovich,BlueandDuran Duranbeing among the performers.[3]Proceeds went toThe Prince's Trust,which totalled £1-million.[4]The show was devised by Nicholas Coleridge, Chair of the British Fashion Council and President of Conde Nast International.

In 2004, Conde Nast held the first American Fashion Rocks event in New York, withAvril Lavigneperforming along withJohn Rzeznikthe mega-hit "Iris"by theGoo Goo Dolls.Other performers includedAlicia Keys,Beyoncé,UsherwithDave Navarro,and thePussycat DollsalongMarc Almond.

The second European event for the Prince's Trust was held on October 17, 2005, at theGrimaldi ForuminMonte Carloand was sponsored bySwarovski.Hosted byJerry Hall,a dozen designers presented that night, includingAlexander McQueen,Calvin Klein,Dolce & Gabbana,Giorgio Armani,Prada,Roberto Cavalli,Versace andVivienne Westwood.Musical guests includedBlondie,Craig David,Amerie,Mariah Carey,David Bowie,Bon Jovi,Jamie CullumandRóisín Murphy.[5]

That same year,Condé Nastheld an event on September 8 atRadio City Music Hallwhich kicked offNew York Fashion Week.[6]Among the performers that night wereDavid Bowie,Gwen Stefani,Duran Duran,Alicia Keys,Tim McGraw,Shakira,Nelly,Billy Idol,Arcade FireandDestiny's Child(in their last televised appearance as a group). Proceeds from the night went toHurricane Katrinarelief efforts[7]

In 2006,Elton Johnhosted the event, with proceeds to go to theElton John AIDS Foundation.[8]Among the performers wereBeyoncé,Jay-Z,Christina Aguilera,The Black Eyed Peas,Pussycat Dolls,Jibbs,andNelly Furtado.[9]

2007 to 2009[edit]

The 2007Conde Nastevent hosted byJeremy Pivenfeatured performances from artists such asAerosmith,Avril Lavigne,Mary J. Blige,Usher,Jennifer Hudson,Santana,Alicia Keys,Carrie Underwood,Lily Allen,Sugababes,Maroon 5,Róisín MurphyandJennifer Lopez.[10][11][12]

The 2008 event was hosted by Denis Leary[13]and featuredCiara,Rihanna,Justin Timberlake,Miley Cyrus,Beyoncé,Mariah Carey,Natasha Bedingfield,Fergie,Kid Rock&Lynyrd Skynyrd(performed together),Keith Urban,Duffy,thePussycat DollsandThe Black Eyed Peas.[14]Proceeds went to Stand Up To Cancer.[15]

In 2009, the first ever Latin American event took place inRio de Janeiro,in Brazil, presenting designers such asRiccardo Tisci,Lenny Niemeyer,Calvin Klein,Lino Villaventura,André Lima,Marc Jacobs,Alexandre HerchcovitchandDonatella Versace.[16]The event was hosted by modelFernanda Limaand rapperDiddy.[17]Musical guests performing at the event includedMariah Carey,Wanessa,Ja Rule,Diddy-Dirty Money,Daniela Mercury,Grace Jones,Estelle,CiaraandStop Play Moon.[18]

2010 to present[edit]

Three Lions Entertainment and CEORichard Beckmanengineered the return ofFashion Rocks,[19]The new music-inspired social fashion shopping site,www.fashionrocks.comArchivedOctober 12, 2008, at theWayback Machinewas launched in August 2014.

A new event took place in 2014, hosted inBrooklynbyRyan Seacrest.Musical guests includedNicki Minaj,Afrojack,Duran Duran,Jennifer Lopez,KISS,Miranda Lambert,Nico & Vinz,Pitbull,Rita Ora,The Band Perry,Enrique IglesiasandUsher.
