Fedi Nuril
Fedi Nuril(born 1 July 1982) is an Indonesian actor, model, and musician. He is known for his roles as Fahri inAyat-Ayat Cinta(2008) andAyat-Ayat Cinta 2(2016), and as Genta in5 cm(2012). Nuril has been referred to as an icon ofpolygamyIndonesian cinema.

Early life
[edit]Fedrian Nuril was born on 1 July 1982 inJakarta,Indonesia,as the youngest child and son of Tuty and Nuril Rachman, a soldier.[1][2][3][4]He had a brother, Marzuki "Uki" Nuril.[3]His parents were migrants ofMinangkabaudescent.[4]Nuril went to the Faculty of Economics and Business atUniversity of Indonesia,and majored in accounting.[5]
Personal life
[edit]Nuril is married to Vanny Widyasasti, a businesswoman, at Balai Sudirman Hall inJakartaon 17 January 2016.[6][7]They had three sons, Hasan Fadilah, Aksa Ganindra, and Kay Mahdi Nuril.[8][9]
Career
[edit]Nuril started his career as a catwalk, magazine, and advertisement model.[10]He made his film debut by starring inRudy Soedjarwo-directedMengejar Matahari(2004), followed byApa Artinya Cinta?(2005), andJanji Joni(2005).[5]Nuril was then cast by directorMira Lesmanato star inGarasi(2006) as a member of a music band called Garasi, along with Ayu Ratna and Aries Budiman.[5]After the film was finished, Garasi released a single titled "Hilang," which received positive reviews from music listeners.[11]In 2007,Hanung Bramantyocast him inAyat-Ayat Cinta(2008), a film adapted from the Habiburrahman El Shirazy novel Fahri.[5]Nuril later won an award for Best Actor from the film at Bandung Film Festival in 2008.[5]
Nuril was cast as Rendy inGet Married 3(2011), the third film in theGet Marriedseries, co-starringNirina Zubir.[12]In 2013, he starred inMoga Bunda Disayang Allahas a drunkard.[13]He then starred inAyah: Menyayangi Tanpa Akhir(2015) as Juna, a pharmacist and single parent who is struggling to cure his children ofbrain cancer,followed bySurga Yang Tak Dirindukan(2015) as a man who practicespolygamyco-starringRaline Shah,and then starred in thesequel of the filmtwo years later.[14][7][15]In 2017, Nuril starred inAyat-Ayat Cinta 2,a sequel to the film with the same name, as Fahri.[16]The film attracted a million viewers and received a mixed review due to the plot.[16]Due to his role in theAyat-Ayat CintaandSurga Yang Tak Dirindukanseries, Nuril was considered a polygamy icon in Indonesian cinema.[16]
In 2021, Nuril starred inSurga Yang Tak Dirindukan 3,a third installment of theSurga Yang Tak Dirindukanseries.[15]He also starred in48 Jam Untuk Indah(2022) as a father who lived in poverty, followed byAir Mata di Ujung Sajadah(2023) as a husband who was fighting for custody of his adopted child.[15]In order to break his polygamy image, Nuril starred inRumah Masa Depan(2023) as Sukri co-starringLaura Basukias his wife Surti.[17][15]He also starred inKapan Hamil(2023) again with Basuki.[15]

[edit]Nuril is an actor with critical views and upholds human rights, and often shows his arguments to the media.[18]During the2024 Indonesian presidential election,he is against second candidatePrabowo SubiantoandGibran Rakabuming Raka,and said that he won't vote for them due to Prabowo being the perpetrator of kidnapping activists during thefall of Suhartoin 1998.[18]He also defended Maria Catarina Sumarsih, an activist who initiated the Kamisan action, which is considered to have raised human rights issues regarding Prabowo as the perpetrator of kidnapping every five years, and added that he did not want the perpetrator of the kidnapping during the 1998 riots to become president.[18][19]
Nuril received both positive and negative responses to his actions.[19]He also became viral onXand was accused of doing ablack campaignby Prabowo's supporters.[20]
