Felipe Cazals(28 July 1937 – 16 October 2021) was a Mexicanfilm director,screenwriter,andproducer.His wife was Rosa Eugenia Báez de Cazals.

Together withArturo Ripstein,Cazals was considered in Mexico one of the most representative film directors of his generation. With his filmsLas Inocentes(1986),Las Poquianchis(1976),El Apando(1976), andCanoa(1976), he was considered to be one of the most creative and bitter-critical[clarification needed]filmmakers in the history ofLatin Americanmovies.Canoawas entered into the26th Berlin International Film Festival,where it won theSilver Bear - Special Jury Prize.[1]His 1973 filmAquellos añoswas entered into the8th Moscow International Film Festivalwhere it won a Special Prize.[2]
