Felix Angel Solis(born September 17, 1971) is an Americanactor,film director,andfilm producer.[1]Born on theUpper West Sideand raised inChelsea/Greenwich Villagearea ofNew York City,to parents that were both born inPuerto Rico,Felix considers himself aNuyorican.

Career

Solis first started working on shows set in NYC such asNew York Undercover,NYPD Blue,Third Watchand the filmEmpire(starring oppositeJohn LeguizamoandPeter Sarsgaard). He then appeared in acclaimed television shows such asThe West Wing,OZ,Law & Order: SVU,The Sopranos,Law & Order: Criminal Intent,DamagesandFringe,andOzark;and numerous films such asThe Forgotten(oppositeJulianne Moore),Wes Craven'sMy Soul to Take,Man on a Ledge(oppositeSam WorthingtonandEd Harris), andArbitrage(oppositeTim Roth).

With his roots in theatre, Felix has also continued to work on stage receiving theHOLA2013 Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor for the production ofBasilicaatNew York's prestigiousCherry Lane Theatre;aConnecticut Critics CircleAward in 2008 forBoleros for the Disenchantedand aHelen Hayes Awardnomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in aPassion Playin 2006. As a stage director, Solis helmedRaúl Castillo'sKnives and Other Sharp Objectsat theJoseph Papp Public Theaterin 2009.[2]

Solis has originated parts inIn Arabia We'd All Be KingsandOur Lady of 121st Street,both written byStephen Adly Guirgiswith direction byPhilip Seymour Hoffman.[3]He performed at the Cherry Lane Theater's stage inHavana Is WaitingbyEduardo Machado.[4]Solis has also been a member ofThe Actors Studiosince 2001, where he has appeared in plays includingSalomestarringDianne WiestandAl Pacino.[5]

Al Pacinowrote him to thank him for his performance in the original production ofOur Lady Of 121st Streetwith theLAByrinth Theater Company,of which he has been a member since 1999.[3]

Solis has appeared in over 18 films includingThe Forgotten,Taking Chance,The International,My Soul to Take,[6]andGun Hill Road(winner of the 2011 Grand Jury Nominee at theSundance Film Festival).[7]Solis' television appearances includeThe Following,The Good Wife,Made in Jersey,NYC 22,Weekends at Bellevue,Criminal Minds,Army Wives,ATF-The Line,Damages,Fringe,The Sopranos,Oz,The West Wing,Third Watch,NYPD Blue,New York Undercover,andBlue Bloods.[6]

In 2013 Solis co-created a film production company calledSubway Token Filmswith his partner, actress Liza Fernandez. Their first short film,Tinto,shot on location in theMaipo Valleywine region ofChile,South America,premiered at theTribeca Film Festivalin 2014,[8]getting nominated for Best Short Narrative. It also screened at the Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival in 2015. Their next short film,iHeart(which Solis directed), made its world premiere at theHoboken International Film Festival;it won the Award of Merit at One-Reeler Short Film Competition, and continues its way through the festival circuit. His next short film,Going Down,was shot inLos Angelesin June and is in post-production. He is an active volunteer at the52nd Street Project,a non-profit group that matches inner-city kids with professional theatre artists to introduce them to the business and craft of theatre production. He is also a supporter of theASPCAandWSPA.

Solis had a recurring role onThe Following.He was a regular on theCBSTV seriesMade in JerseystarringKyle MacLachlan,andJanet Montgomery.[9]On the same network he played Sgt. Terry Howard onNYC 22,produced byJane RosenthalandRobert De Niro,as well as a recurring role onThe Good Wifeas the "No-Nonsense"Det.Kevin Rodriguez.[6]Solis also landed a role on USA’sColonyplaying Geronimo, andABC’sThe Familyplaying Editor-in-Chief Gus Flores. Felix was recently cast in the series regular inABC'sTen Days in the Valleyas Commander Gomez that premiered in October 2017.
