Flexal mammarenavirus(also known as theFlexal virusorFLEV,and previously known by the laboratory codeBeAn 293022) is amammarenavirus:anarenaviruswith a mammalian host.[1]It was first found in semiaquatic rodents of the genusOryzomysintropical forestin theParáarea ofBrazil.[2]

It is a member of Clade A of the Tacaribe (or "New World" ) serocomplex of the familyArenaviridae.[3]Laboratory workers infected by Flexal virus have exhibited febrile illness.[3]Flexal virus is listed as aUN 2814 Category A infectious substance.[4]
