Fort Hamilton High School (HS 490)is apublichigh schoolinBrooklyn, New York,United States,under the jurisdiction of theNew York City Department of Education.Students inBay Ridge,Sunset ParkandDyker Heightsare zoned to Fort Hamilton HS.[citation needed]It is named for the Army garrison atFort Hamilton.[2]
Ground was broken by then mayorFiorello LaGuardiaon September 23, 1940 and the school opened at 8301 Shore Road on September 8, 1941 at the location of the formerCrescent Athletic Country Club.[3][2]
