Frances Davies(18 October 1996) is a New Zealandfield hockeyplayer.[1]She was first named toNew Zealand women's national field hockey teamin 2016. Her position is defender. Davies also plays for theMidlandshockey team.

Early life and education[edit]

Davies was born inRotorua, New Zealandand was raised inTauranga, New Zealand.[2][3]She began playing field hockey at age six.[2]At nine years old she played field hockey atTauranga Girls' Collegealongside her future New Zealand national teammateAmy Robinson.[3]Frances attended St. Peter's School inCambridge, New Zealand.[2]

Career[edit]

Davies was a member of New Zealand's field hockey team for the2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games.[2]After finishing her schooling, Davies moved toAuckland, New Zealandto further her field hockey career.[3]Davies plays the position of defender.[4]She played for New Zealand in the Under-21 Junior World Cup of field hockey.[3]She was then named to theNew Zealand women's national field hockey team,known as the Black Sticks, for a 2016 five-test series against Malaysia.[3]Davies was again named to the Black Sticks in 2017.[5]She was named to the Black Sticks team for the 2017 World League Final.[6]Aside from playing for the national team, Davies is also a member of theMidlands,which as of 2017 were the national champions of New Zealand hockey.[5][7]
