Francis Dougan(born 8 December 1972) is a ScottishRoman Catholicbishop. He was appointedBishop of Gallowayon 22 December 2023.
Biography
[edit]He was born inLanark,Scotland,on 8 December 1972.[1]
He was ordained to the priesthood on 27 June 2001 byBishop Joseph Devineat St Aidan's Church,Coltnessfor theDiocese of Motherwell.He was assistant priest of Our Lady & St Anne's,Cadzowand Chaplain toHoly Cross High School, Hamilton(2001–06); Vice-Rector ofPontifical Scots College,Rome(2006–12); parish priest of Saint Mark and Saint Anthony's Churches inRutherglenand Chaplain toTrinity High School(2013–21); parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes,East Kilbride(from 2021).[2]
He was appointedBishopof theDiocese of GallowaybyPope Francison 22 December 2023, and receivedepiscopal consecrationon 9 March 2024 at St Peter-in-Chains,Ardrossan.[2]The principalconsecratorwasArchbishop Leo CushleyofSaint Andrews and Edinburghand the principal co-consecrators wereArchbishop William NolanofGlasgowandBishop Joseph ToalofMotherwell.[1]The installation of Bishop Dougan took place the following day on 10 March 2024 atSt Margaret's Cathedral, Ayr.[1]
