Winifred Alice "Freda" James(married nameHammersley,11 January 1911 – 27 December 1988) was a British femaletennisplayer of the 1930s.[2]

She won the women's doubles inGrand Slamevents three times: in 1933 at theUS Women's National Championship(withBetty Nuthall), and twice atWimbledonin 1935 and 1936 (withKay Stammers).

From 1931 to 1939, she was part of the British team in theWightman Cup.
