Frederick Robert Schram(born August 11, 1943, inChicago,Illinois) is anAmericanpalaeontologistandcarcinologist.He received hisB.S.inbiologyfromLoyola University Chicagoin 1965, and aPh.D.on palaeozoology from theUniversity of Chicagoin 1968.[1]

He has written over 200 papers on various aspects ofcrustaceanbiology,taxonomyandsystematics,as well as several books, including the standard textCrustacea.[2]In 1983, he founded the journalCrustacean Issues,which he continued to edit for over twenty years. Much of his career has been spent at theUniversiteit van Amsterdam,theNetherlands,from which he retired in 2005. In July 2005, he became the Editor of theJournal of Crustacean Biology.[1]
